Alcatel-Lucent has introduced a new network processor that delivers a fourfold increase in performance over the fastest Internet Protocol (IP) networks. By supporting 400 Gigabits-per-second (G) transmission speeds, the FP3 processor opens up new possibilities for bandwidth-intensive services, applications and content, while cutting power consumption by up to 50 per cent.
The FP3 processor is being demonstrated and will be commercially available in Alcatel-Lucent’s service router portfolio in 2012.

Sloka announces the launch of cost effective wireless broadband solutions targeted at Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) of emerging countries. Sloka Telecom offers these solutions in both licensed and unlicensed spectrums of 3.3 – 3.6 GHz and 5.8 GHz.

Dr. Hung Song, vice-president of global electronics major Samsung displayed several tiny modems that could transform laptops, cell phones and other knowledge devices to wireless mode connecting to Internet through WiMax points. The recent WiMax spectrum auction has fetched the Government 8.56 billion USD. Operators are planning a rapid roll out to gain early mover advantage in a market said to be all waiting for this wireless broad band access technology.

But the industry needs to work towards removing the roadblocks in togetherness, in order to gain the Wimax advantage.
