GSMA has announced the launch of its office in New Delhi to be headed by Sandeep Karanwal.
Speaking on the occasion Anne Bouverot, DG and Member of the Board, GSMA, said, “India is a very important market. And will become the second largest mobile broadband market in the world by 2016. This will enable India to overtake US with 36+ million broadband connections.”
Expressing her views on the current India scenario post 2G spectrum scam she said that the Indian government should take proactive steps for the timely allocation of the spectrum in a transparent way for all the operators. She further predicted that in the next two years India will become the biggest HSPA market in the world.
Sanjay Kapoor, Board Member, GSMA, said, “Broadband will shape not only the telecom industry but also industries connected to telecom. Speed will be the killer application going forward.”
